SPRINGFIELD — The Ohio High School Athletic Association told Springfield High School on Tuesday, Oct. 14, it will not have a chance to appeal the one-game suspension of football player Trey DePriest after a fight between the Wildcats and Kettering Fairmont on Friday, Oct. 10.

In a press release, Springfield announced it has finished its investigation of the incident, and by mutual agreement with the OHSAA, the incident is closed.

"The official emphasized the ejection, and the fight were two different things," Springfield coach Rick Robertson said.

DePriest was ejected during the two-team scrum that erupted in the first half. Players from both teams ran onto the field. DePriest was the only player ejected.

After the fight, the teams were sent to their locker rooms. They returned after a delay, and Fairmont won 15-8 in double overtime.

The penalty for an ejection is an automatic one-game suspension. DePriest will miss the game at Beavercreek on Friday, Oct. 17.
