Yes you can. At least, I've heard of a case where an ejection was overturned.

I am guessing the school realized how easy they got it....
From Springfield News-Sun: No suspension appeal; DePriest to miss game Springfield High School, OHSAA deem case closed by mutual agreement. By Brian Plasters Staff Writer Wednesday, October 15, 2008 SPRINGFIELD — The Ohio High School Athletic Association told Springfield High School on Tuesday, Oct. 14, it will not have a chance to appeal the one-game suspension of football player Trey DePriest after a fight between the Wildcats and Kettering Fairmont on Friday, Oct. 10. In a press release, Springfield announced it has finished its investigation of the incident, and by mutual agreement with the OHSAA, the incident is closed. "The official emphasized the ejection, and the fight were two different things," Springfield coach Rick Robertson said. DePriest was ejected during the two-team scrum that erupted in the first half. Players from both teams ran onto the field. DePriest was the only player ejected. After the fight, the teams were sent to their locker rooms. They returned after a delay, and Fairmont won 15-8 in double overtime. The penalty for an ejection is an automatic one-game suspension. DePriest will miss the game at Beavercreek on Friday, Oct. 17. |

Why aren't officials given better security. Imagine DQ-ing everyone--calling the game and having to walk through irate fans to get to your locker room and/or cars ? It is time we demand uniformed protection at all games. If college coaches can have state police etc. escorting them---officials should have a similar protection, at least local police or sheriffs.
We should demand nothing less.

What should have occurred was a review of videos to suspend players coming off the bench. There is nothing to stop the OHSAA from doing that. As for security, in our area it would cost money to have armed security so schools use teachers which is a perk for them. Before the highly publicized Kings Park-Sayville game my umpire and I joked about the security lady thinking the only thing she secured was a muffin in the lunch room. Sure enough at the end of the game she was our escort off the field until she got assistance from another teacher. In retrospect, when the game got heated to the point where our safety came into question someone should have called police to provide for our safety. |

The officials, however, could not have used video on the field to do the same, since OHSAA has a policy against the use of video.

I think this requirement is also in effect for basketball, but no other sports. |
