Of course throwing something at any basketball official would be grounds for ejection. I find it hard to believe that this would be as successful in the basketball arena because a baseball umpire behind the plate is in a fixed position. A basketball official is constantly moving around and there are not many situations I can think of where I would be directly behind a basketball player for him or her to miss a ball and I would get hit.
