With the NCAA tournament in the news, our local rag, The Oregonian, ran a story on the first NCAA basketball champs, the 1939 Oregon Ducks. A link is below. Note that on the bottom of page 3 it mentions the rule as it was then that only a team captain could "call" a timeout and only the team captain -
not the coach - could speak to the officials! MTD Sr.- is that how it really was?
