Both of these schools are part of IPS (Indanapolis Public Schools)....the school system is not very good but with the help of a new Superintendent, they are making some progress. Within Indy you have IPS and then you have township schools. Both are public but where you live determines where you go to school.

The IPS schools typically bus kids in from lower income areas and the kids come from broken homes/single parent households with absentee fathers and have more problems. This is actually not uncommon for fights to break out at these schools during the day and at athletic events at night.

I went to a township HS that is probably 6 miles from Broad Ripple and we had issues whenever we played them back in the late 80's. I can recall several fights at a Varsity football game and one during a VB hoops game.
