From this I guess that physical cruelty to / beatings of human beings was not sufficient justification, but dog fighting is. Thanks for making my point, your protestations of not having a PETA mindset or being a lemming notwithstanding.
I have a couple of dogs, and I care for them deeply, but if I had to choose between rescuing a human being from a building fire and letting my dog die, the choice would not even be close, even if it was a person I personally did not like.
