Drake,
I whacked an assistant for telling me the call was terrible. He didnt like the fact that I called a PC foul on his player who was clearing players off him (read throwing elbow) but it was just a slight cock of the elbow and I didnt think it deserved an intentional because it was more of a push.
When a coach wants to try and show you up I agree whack him. Somehow we need to convince our association that it is ok to whack someone and stand up. I think we have too many whimps.
I remember one night I was doing a game. I whacked a coach for for yelling at me running on the floor to attend to an injured player. He wasnt beckoned, and didnt mention his player was hurt until he ran past me into the paint.
My partner after the injury was taken care of told the coach and he said that's crap and gave my partner a little shove. My partner whacked him and he was gone. The two officials who followed us told us that they never call T's and one stated he had officiated for nearly 20 year and had never called a T.... I think in many ways thats what the association promotes and it needs to change. Once a coach has one T he ought to just shut the *&&^% up. If he cant he can piss and moan all he wants from the parking lot
BTW email me who your partner was....
