I've been playing baseball all my life and I've never payed MLB a dime in royalties for the use of 'their game'
They may be the accepted authority when it comes to rules and umpire mechanics but unless you were using "owners" in the loosest context possible, it is an absolute misstatement to say they are the
owners of the game and rules.
