It doesn't matter if its a try, tap, or thrown ball. In order to receive 3 points per (NF) 5.2.1, it must be "behind the team's own" 3 point line. I guess one could argue that if a player were at the other end of the court, he is technically "behind" the team's 3 point line, but reading the rest of the rule same makes it clear that its only 2 points: "A ball that touches ... any other goal... counts 2 points."
