Is the ball above their waist?
Is the ball raising and/or heading towards the basket?
Is the players body facing or heading to the basket or extending upwards?
Tis a judgement call.

I sincerely fail to see where any of these parameters are useful in determining continuous motion. The rules book gives you plenty of guidance in making this call. Please let us know whence these nuggets of wisdom are derived???
