Is there a rule reference, or case? I happen to know the umpire personally, and he's also a good basketball official, so I didn't get into a discussion at the time, since I haven't been involved with umpiring ASA for several years. The point is that there is no such rule so there is no such out; except in the specific conditions in 8-2-h; which is mimiced or parphrased in the other books as well.
