Situation #1: A better explanation may be, "Coach, there is no must slide rule in baseball, it is slide or avoid contact. In this case, your catcher was not where he should have been on the play, and he initiated the contact. Had the runner not scored, I would have called obstruction on your catcher." That may have shut him up.

Situation #2: "Yes coach, he can turn in any direction he wants, but if he makes any move toward second base, he is liable to be tagged out, by rule."
This also would have shut him up and he would have had no grounds for extra commentary.
