It couldn't have been a real bad pitch; in fact he may have been called out on his checked swing. According to Peter Gammons, BJ Upton, "the runner who held at first", lit into Young after the game in the clubhouse. Upton is the son of an ACC basketball official and I'm sure the vision of a sports official being assaulted by a flying object really shook him.
