shot clock questions
Our AAU club is hosting a Super Regional this weekend, which requires the use of a 30-second shot clock. We have to provide clock operators for each game, but since our high schools do not use a shot clock we don’t have any experienced shot clock operators.
I plan to print a “cheat sheet” to keep at the table, to help the clock operators. Under NCAA Women’s rules, is the following correct?
Reset to 30 seconds when:
• A shot hits the rim
• The defense commits a foul
• The defense gains team or player control
• The defense “kicks” the ball, with > 15 seconds remaining on shot clock. (Reset to 15 seconds if the defense “kicks” with 15 seconds or less remaining on the shot clock.)
Do not reset the shot clock if the defense deflects the ball out-of-bounds.
Question: does the shot clock reset when a *shot* hits the rim, or anytime the ball hits the rim? In other words, do we get a reset if a *pass* hits the rim?
