We often get some games here in my chapter betweeen high schools from Oklahoma playing in Texas. From an officiating standpoint I don't do anything different. I pregame with the coach and inform him that this game is using NCAA rules with UIL exceptions. I also make it clear that I don't know the NFHS rules so I don't even attempt to offer any rules differences. As far as the game itself it is just like any other game we work. The players don't have to play any differently. Back when I played in a TX vs OK game our coach always told us to not block below the waist. Perhaps when the OK team comes to TX their coach can prepare their players to defend against a player blocking below the waist. As we all know there are hundreds of differences in the rules, but in my opinion the blocking below the waist is the biggest.
