I think you should stick to coaching and worry less about the officiating and league administration. Neither you or your assistant coach have any right to try to "correct" a player on the other team. Your assistant was WAY out of line.
Refs will miss calls occasionally, even if there are two (or three) of them on the floor. A woman is just as capable to officiate as a man so I don't even know why you brought the "lady ref" issue into your post.
