I expect it's going to depend a lot on the circumstances. If he's up in the opponent's face, what you quoted is definitely taunting. If he's looking at him mom in hte crowd when he says it, he's proabably just pointing out that his really lousy game yesterday is behind him and he's moving forward now. Is his tone of voice taunting? Is he talking to someone specific? Are the opponents getting upset?

It sounds to me as though a warning would be about the right response, but you're the one who was there, so it's gotta be your judgment. Unless it's really obvious, I think it makes sense to warn first.
