the following form letter can be used at your discretion

Dear Coach__________

I am writing to apologize for not calling a kick when the ball hit the player from _____________ in the foot. Despite the fact that her foot was flat on the ground and that she was just standing there, this no-call on my part came at a critical juncture right when your team was about to make their run to recover from the 41 point deficit they were facing late in the first half. While I thought I knew the rule, one of your player's mother alerted me to the possibility that any time the ball hits a defenders foot it is always a kick and as she put it, I should have known this.

Also, she suggested that your team was playing this game 8 on 5 so in the future, we will phone ahead and arrange extra opponent jerseys for our crew to wear so there will be no confusion for you fans. Also when calling out of bounds, we will use the terms "their ball" and "our ball" to further avert any confusion.

One final rules adjustment we will make on your behalf is that we will add a special extra coach's box located on the opposit side of the floor for your helping parent standing in the corner. Since he provides such valuable coaching assistance for your team and rules insight for our crew, we feel he sould be included as we barely got through your unfortunate 79-26 loss and were appreciative of his help.

We feel that these accomodations and their advance notice should hopefully allow you to properly game plan for the re-match.

In closing, it is our hope that our lack of rules knowledge on the kick rule will not contribute to a "below average" game rating but rather our open mind and advance game adjustments for next time will garner us an "average". We would also like to thank Ashley's mom for helping us with that rule interpretation! We'll never forget thanks to her!

Sincerely,

___________ - Referee and Player A6 for ______________
