Since it was his momentum that carried him out, I would be inclined to rule it an interrupted dribble when the ball got left behind. As such, I would have no violation. However, in a slightly different case where going OOB would be avoidable and was a choice, I would not consider it an interrupted dribble and would have a violation the moment the player steps OOB.
