Actually this is probably for OUA, (Ontario University Athletics). A conference in the CIS (Canadian Interuniversity Sport)

Basically the Canadian equivilant of the NCAA.
You will probably get many excellent suggestions; tomegun has given a good start.

I will add:

Trust your partner(s) and the system. In other words, follow the mechanics as prescribed for your level, and call your area while letting your partners call theirs.

Maintaining eye contact with your partners during some situations is always important. Don't hand a ball to a player for a throw-in without making sure your partners are ready. Or, after a foul or violation, letting your partner know where the ball's going to be thrown-in, or how many shots we've got it it's a shooting foul or bonus.

Go over end-of-half or game situations; who has the last-second shot?

How will you handle unusual situations, such as T's, disqualifications, etc.? Who reports, who administers?

In the beginning of the year, go over new rules and mechanics so everyone's on the same page. As the year progresses, maybe you can go over strange plays that have happened, or things that appear to be a problem this year.

I know there are others.
