When the kick is blocked it has obviously failed. My crew uses the whistle immediately after the kick, too

I agree with the kick try ruling. How clear can it be? For us, the BJ whistles as soon as the ball clears the line (that is, as soon as he sees the ball in the air from the kick). The Referee will whistle when it's blocked.
