I agree...neither have I...and I think I made clear what I would do if that happened to me. However, if I was working with this particular base umpire and he and I had a pre-game conference, when he told me "I'll point to you when I need help at a call at first", I would have said, "no you won't"...and we would have worked it out then, instead of on the field during the game.

I would have said, "wait a minute here, if you want me to make your calls, then go home right now and I will handle the game. Now, if you feel as though you are lacking information to make the correct call and you need input, either now or later then we can discuss it and YOU, will make the call. Also, this will NOT BE an established norm for each call. You will still be expected to make your own calls and hustle."
Sounds kind of blunt but, thats life. Then again, in 20yrs I have NEVER had this come up. YET
