JV Girls' game last night.
I worked with a 30-ish, one-year official, and this was the first game of his second year.
He came without a jacket. He told me he had about 15 games last year. He said he has read the offcials manual.
He had never had a captains meeting. We had one.
He was offered, but did not want to toss the ball.
Every dead ball we made eye contact.
I wondered only twice what he had with regard to shooting, or not. I never wondered about the spot.
He bumped-and-ran well.
Working with younger/newer officials that read the book can be rewarding and quite pleasant.
