I am not very familiar with how these girl tournaments are run but maybe you can work it out with the other umps and the UIC to be off at least sometimes when your daughter is playing so you can at least catch some of her games

Steve, I believe I too who have 2 childeren at college age now umpire also for the $$$'s but dont believe it changes my approach. I umpire 1st because I enjoy it, 2nd it is good exercise for this 40ish old man and yes but least importance for the $$$'s that do come in handy for paying for some of those extra expenses and a extra golf round every month or so. I do understand your point but only believe it would become a real problem for those that are calling soley for the money and I believe we all know how much Joel loves the game and umpiring so I couldnt ever imagine it being a problem for him
