Your post refers to bruising/discoloration. There is only two ways you can see the result of blood pooling (discoloration or bruising) behind your knee:
1) trauma, which didn't happen in your case
2) you've torn the muscle (or tendon)and the wound is bleeding.

Been there, done that, and you are most likely done at any level that requires more speed than Chester on the old Gunsmoke series. Others have recommended sports medicine and I quite agree. Unlike bones that mend and the spot is stonger, muscle tears that mend on that spot are weaker and more likely to tear there again w/o specified preventive exercise. Been there and done that too.
