Most of the leagues in our area (southwestern Ohio) are 3-man. Even freshman and JV games in the Dayton City League are 3 as well as several girls leagues. One AD in a league that just converted this year was opposed because he felt 3-man caused older officials to hang on too long. He was wanting younger officials in the league. I feel 3-man does that by giving more people an opportunity to work. I personally have not worked a 2-man game in 2 years and don't plan on doing another. We do not have a shortage of officials, but there are games in which the rotation mechanics are not worked as smoothly as they should be. I think this will work itself out as more officials dedicate themselves to learning proper 3-man machanics and working on them in the summer.
