Phil I know as umpires we are not supposed to say anything concerning the coaching aspect of the game.
However, on a more human note , I will tell the batter - hey r3 is coming home - don't swing.
Now If the pitch is strike 3 or anywhere near hitable, I know I can get in hot water, but I'd rather be in hot water than have some kids lights knocked out . If the batter takes his normal cut and hits r3 anywhere near the head area, chances are that something fatal will happen.
Since you said LL, it would be interesting to see if seeing r3 break for home we immediately called time, sent r3 back to third and declared the pitch a no pitch, stretching 9.01c to the hilt.
