Obviously you mistook my use of the term *THIS* century to mean *LAST* century,

I did not mistook it! I said that the Sox haven't been in the World Series in "this century" plus 16 years. That would be blatently false if I were talking about the 20th century.

the bottom line remains if you give enough monkeys with enough typewrites enough time one of them will eventually recreate every lyric ever written by Neil Sedaka, in chronological order.

So that's where all those posts from "Dan_ref" come from!!

The point being if the obvious historical trends continue we won't have to wait long for NY to have another WS appearance.
That may be true, but that's not the point. That's what New York fans say instead of the Cubbies' refrain of "We'll get 'em next year." The point, indeed the point of the entire baseball season, is to play in (and win) the World Series this year. The Red Sox may; the Yankees won't. For once, Red Sox fans don't have to talk about waiting for another shot.
