Under NFHS rules, a coach can request a timeout for a coach-referee conference to correct an administrative mistake.
If this had occured during a high school game, the officials wouldn't be able to do anything about it after the first field goal attempt. Once the ball is snapped (or the Referee declares a quarter over) after a mistake, the window for correcting the mistake is closed.
I'm curious as to what the NFL will say about this if anything.
