Sure you can make this call. You step up into the working area behind the mound and when F6 throws to first you take a couple of quick steps towards the 45 foot line between home and first. No way you get straightlined. Umpires get straightlined because they run straight towards a play rather than getting an angle.

Ask me for help on this play and my response would likely be, "Yup, R2 touched third." THAT is my primary job. Yours is making the call at first base. Or third base.
