At a tourny this weekend, a bunted ball came to rest on the plate, and the ump called it a fould ball as the catcher picked it up and gunned the runner at 3rd by 3-4 steps and they would have had the very slow batter runner at first. That's where the myths get their life from. If the defense hadn't made such a great play no one would remember it, but now any ball on the plate will be foul because of everybody's memory of the double play a bad call erased.
