Like Mike said. I've heard players say things like "If they score three we get to bat again" to which I repond to the loudest mouth on the team "You realize that since you said that if I see anything that looks like less than 100% effort I will be obligated by the rules to forfeit the game in the other teams favor? It's not me, I don't make the rules, I just have to enforce them." Never once went another inning after that.
When they ask why the rule they get the "travesty" speech and then the "How would you feel if someone had to go to the hospital because you guys were goofing around?" End of argument.
