Personally, I do not react at all. For seven years, my partners have always either blown their whistles, and/or thrown their arm(s) up
or some such reaction to the horn.
In reality, everyone just reacts to the sound of the horn and ignores the referees. Kind of like Captains' meetings (a waste of breath).
