REPLY: We're lucky enough in my local chapter to have two NFL officials (an HL and SJ) in our midst. Each spring, one of them runs a clinic for the local HS and college guys. This past season, he brought his umpire and referee to the clinic. They barely touched on rules, but focused heavily on mechanics, positioning, and philosophy. They brought films from the NFL that focused on specific plays--OPI, holding, late hits, etc., etc. So we had an NFL referee, umpire, head linesman, and side judge tutoring us for about three or four hours. Since I have the opportunity to work on the lines and deep, I was extremely interested in those two presentations and the films on downfield pass action. I learned more from Tom Hill (the SJ) in his half-hour presentation than I've learned in twenty five years of HS and college meetings! What a resource!

THeisey: Tom...you're not that far away from us. You might want to come this April. Let me know.
