Additionally, the coaching box DOES NOT extend onto the "playing court." If he has even one toe on the floor, and you run into him, he's definitely out of line. You should talk to him firmly, consider that a warning, and the next time, whack.

Also, your partner should have understood why you were confused, pointed out to you the different parts of the book that you could turn to, and congratulated you on studying the rules so carefully. That kind of diligence will take you far!
