I'm assuming that you mean on the front court endline, and not a bounce pass across the lane.

Zoochy originally asked about NFHS Mechanics, and while I can't speak to that, I can speak about IAABO mechanics.

The old IAABO mechanic was basically, "Bounce when you can, hand when you must".

The "hand when you must" was mandated for front court endline throwins.

IAABO changed that a few years ago, now IAABO tells us that we can "bounce" at any time, including on the front court endline.

I know, I got it wrong on the mechanics portion of my IAABO Refresher Exam a few years ago when they changed the mechanic unannounced.
