This seems to indicate not 90 feet away and I need a rule or exception or case study which states that it should be 90 feet away. I don't think spirit of the rule can apply here over what looks to be so clear above.

So, you're going to give them the ball under their own basket AND let them run? That's the literal reading.

Try this: the "end of the court where the goal was made" means "A's basket," not "the basket on the east end of the court" (although they are usually the same). So, when the teams switch ends, "A's basket" is now the west end, and that's where the throw in will take place.
