Yeah, thought about that, but that's when Ball contacts Batter, not the other way around (think Batted Ball contacting the Bat versus the opposite).

I'm just surprised I couldn't find anything more definitive about this situation than the very open clause in 8-2-7, which covers any ball in fair territory the batter contacts, even while she's conceivably still in the box. It's not even covered in the table in Rule 5.
