Ok, my serious reply. The best preparation for the upcoming season that I've found is summer camps. Invariably, I pick up numerous things that help me in the regular season.

It's kind of late to schedule camps for this summer, tho. So if you didn't do that, then I'd say the best preparation would be:

1) Rules study (including the changes, obviously)
2) Conditioning
3) Scrimmages

In that order. Just my opinion.
