Certainly seems like some hyperbole in the umpire statement. Batter's box edge is 6 inches away from the edge of the plate. And since the leg rises from the heel and not the toe area of the foot, the leg is about 10 inches from the plate. No way could the knee be over the plate and the feet still in the box. i start to loose my balance trying to get my knees to extend just past my toes. (I know I am not as athletic as a 14U athlete, but still think it is an exaggeration.)

But there is also a contradiction between what you and PU saw. You say she rotated to the right to avoid. PU says she leaned into the pitch. Now its a judgement call. Man wearing the blue shirt wins everytime.
