Knowledgeable TV Announcers

Okay, you officials -- I REALLY want to know which of the college basketball announcers are REALLY knowledgeable about rules and officiating -- and which are the most ignorant. I can hardly stand to listen to Vitale (repeats everything three times, thinks he's the most clever guy on TV) and Raftery (thinks all of his "cute" little sayings are the sign of great intelligence), but will reserve comment on their knowledge. Other guys you may want to discuss are Mike Patrick, Jay Bilas, etc. etc. Thanks!

Jay Bilas and Len Elmore know the most about the rules.

While he is not one of the "big time" announcers, the only guy IO have ever seen who knows rules is Irv Brown.

FWIW, Irv is a former official and he still keeps up with what is going on. I have heard him explain why an unpopular call was correct. He stands up for officials when they can be defended.

No one else is close.

Now I understand why you have serious problems with your rules knowledge. You got your training by listening to that little toad Packer.

Note to the OP: Disregard posts about the rules from deecee. He is a young punk who doesn't know when it is inappropriate to make a joke. You came here asking for an honest opinion to increase your basketball knowledge and you get some smart-a$$ kid posting garbage.

Anybody here know him or attended any camps he observed?

whats wrong with Packer -- he says he knows the rules so he must be right -- besides what does my age have to do with having a sense of humor -- because I could have sworn my post was dripping with sarcasm -- but heh what do i know

So do you believe everything you hear? Trust me, and everyone else here, Packer knows very, very little about the rules. End of story.
