Receiving a Serve open handed - The Official Forum

This question seems to constantly come up wherever I play. Do the latest beach rules allow a serve to be received with open hands like a set provided it is a clean contact. If so, what constitutes a clean contact? If the ball rolls backwards off the fingertips is this a bad contact?
