Since it seems there are many new officials, and I would like to see more on this board, I'll lob some questions out to the newbies to see how the studying is going.
S1 serves three points. Coach R calls TO. Coach S realizes that S2 should be the proper server, so after the time out S2 goes back to serve, and serves three more points. At this point the freshman keeping the book tells you, the umpire, that S1 was an improper server at the beginning of the term of service. What is the proper way to handle this? |

Would this be like in basketball, where if the illegal server was discovered after the receiving team got the ball back, ( i.e. a side out occured and they have served at least one time), that the points would now stand or for how long could they be taken away? Would you change the position of the players at your first opportunity after discovering the incorrect positioning?

RC, you read too much into it.
Since an illegal server was used they lose all the points scored for that service, and since the proper server was now in ther RB position, there was no need to put them in prper order. Now, if there was a side out, and the other team served, then you are right they would all stand, at that point the "statute of limitations" has run out. |
