NCAA net fault mechanics

Specifically - when R2 calls the net fault, does R1 repeat the # given by the R2?

AFAIK the wording in the rulebook has not changed in that regard and it doesn’t spell it out explicitly.

I do remember the clinician making a point that R2 repeats the numbers given by R1, but not the other way around (anymore). I can’t find it on the printed slides. Only the R1->R2 side is there. Nothing for R2->R1. Not for this anyways.

R1 will mirror the player's number for a net fault. R1 will NOT mirror sub or time-out signals.

Can you show it on paper?

Ok, so in a document posted 07/23/26 on NCAA Central Hub under national coordinator notes, there is:
Quote:
When the R2 whistles and calls a fault, there is no change to the R1’s current signaling technique.
So I guess I must’ve heard wrong.
On the other hand the rulebook (current and previous) has this:
Quote:
19.1.5.1 If the fault is whistled by the first referee, he or she indicates the result
of the play (point or replay) followed by the nature of the fault. The second
referee mimics the first referee’s point signal only.
19.1.5.2 If the fault is whistled by the second referee, he or she will indicate the
nature of the fault and the player at fault (if necessary). The first referee, if in
agreement, will then indicate the result of the play (point or replay); the second
referee mimics that signal.
Nothing here says anything about repeating numbers. So where does it say it?
Doing it for so long I never thought of that until now, when I apparently misheard what that clinician said and decided to dig up…

This is also in a note from the national coordinator on 7/23:

When the R2 Whistles and Calls the Fault

When the R2 whistles and calls a fault, there is no change to the R1’s current signaling technique.
However, the following changes apply when the R2 initiates a substitution or timeout:
Substitution
When the R2 whistles and signals for a substitution, the R1 will not mimic the substitution signal.
Timeout
When the R2 whistles and signals for a timeout, the R1 will not mimic the timeout signal.
• During the timeout, the R2 may continue to informally display the number of timeouts taken by the team.
