Headset failure

Crazy thing happened this afternoon. In the locker room, my partner got out his headsets (the $400 per unit version), he got them to connect, but we couldn't hear each other. So I got out mine, I got them to pair, but we couldn't hear each other. We both turned them off and re-paired them and they synched, but had no audio. We kept trying my set right up to 1 minute before the match started. But we had to go without them.

And then, we skipped the player intros because the announcer's microphone wouldn't connect to the gym's speakers.

Never happened to me before and it just felt crazy.

Also, completely unrelated, I didn't have 2 out-of-rotation calls against the serving team in all of last season. But I had 2 today, one on each team. They weren't even close, and didn't think it was wierd when I delayed my beckon to see if they would fix it.

With everything that is some short of radio it's a wonder you can get the things connected at all in most schools these days. There's a few gyms around here I've been told that you cant use headsets because of interference.
