1. The first referee checks to see that the line judges and second referee are in position. The first referee whistles ti direct the players to their respective end lines. (If the teams have already been on the end line for introductions, the starting players may assume their positions on the court.)

2. When all officials are ready, the first referee shall whistle and signal the players onto the playing court. If the players have not already shaken hands, they may do so at this time.
