Question

Had a question asked to me by a coach last week and could not find a ruling on it in the NFHS rule book. During a teams 5 minute off court time or the 3 minute time between games, do the teams have to stay in the playing area? I know they have to stay for timeouts. Common sense tells me that these times are to do with what they want as long as they are back in the given times but I don't know if common sense applies here. Any help would be appreciated.

Item 11.5.1 in the casebook says it's legal for a team to return to the locker room between games.

I can't imagine why there'd be a different result if they just went out to the hall or into the parking lot. So long as they're back before the 3 minutes expires, it really shouldn't matter where they go.
