Asa d3k 10u

Please point me in the right direction. My experience in umpiring was in NFHS and NCAA not ASA. I've got a book, read rule 8. It looks like D3K is standard.

Coaching my daughter in 10U the other night and on pregame the PU told us there was no D3K on 10U as a new rule in 2015. I can't find this anywhere, can someone point me with a rule reference or page number.

No such change in the rule, used to be a rule many years ago but not any more. Possibly a local league rule.

It used to be in the ASA rule book at one time under rule 8-1-B. Not sure when it was removed, but I'm guessing it was within the last five years or so. It was not reinstated in 2015 as a national rule. Perhaps your PU was mistakenly implementing a local rec league rule.

Many of our local rec leagues for 10U do not enforce the U3K rule.

ASA dropped 10U rules, which were actually based upon the original rules of softball, years ago at the demand of the coaches. After all, how could the college recruiters decide to offer a verbal to a 9yo if they weren't playing the game by the big-boy rules

Thank you. I am (on the) rules committee for our local league, responsible for league supplements and making sure they don't make "too much" mess of other rules. Part of why I was surprised.

Thank you all for your input.
