Softball Canada, Mens Orothodox (Modified pitch for my collegues south of the border). Game 5 of best of 5 league Championship. This game had a bit of everything, I thought I was watching a spagetti western.

The Good.

Not a peep about my strike zone. Partner has several bangers on the bases, both safe and out, both teams and not one complaint.

No runners, outs not important. High foul ball 1st base side near the fence (about 7 feet high). F1, F2, and F3 all converge on the ball. F2 climbs the fence, reaches over just getting the ball (ball was at least 2 feet beyond the fence) in the webbing of his glove. As he jumps off the fence, the ball pops out. F2 stumbles as he lands on the ground but still grabs the ball with his bare hand. OUT!!

The Bad.

No runners, 1 out. High foul ball 3rd base side, F5 makes the catch. F5 attempts to throw the ball to F4 but ends up throwing it into right field. F9 throws his glove at the ball and HITS it. First time I have ever seen this except in little kid ball.

No outs, R1. Ball is bunted and fielder by F2. F2 turns and fires to F6, but F6 is two feet off of 2nd, doesn't even try to tag the bag.

The Ugly.

Top of 5, no outs, R1. Ball hit to F6. Throw to second is high, F4 goes up to catch the ball and come down on top of the sliding R1. F4 is basically lying on top of R1, R1 gets up and in the process sort of flips F4 off his back. R1 is shoved by one of the fielders who pushes back. Several players from visitors run out on to the field from bench (1st base side). I intercept the offensive players while partner deals with the fielders. One "Back to the dugout" from me and the visitors quickly return to their bench. I turn back towards second base, F4 is lying on the ground holding his knee, partner is discussing the play with F2. F2 is loudly complaining that the slide was malicious and yelling at the opposition bench. F2 drops the F-bomb and partner ejects. I get F2 and escort him to his bench. F2 is continuing to yell at the opposition. Just as I get back to the vicinity of 2nd base, partner has ejected a second player. One of the players says “You might as well eject us all” and the rest of the team walks off the field. Home team refuses to resume game, I declare a forfeit, game over.

That fielder is gone.

Nope, not a policeman. I will not put myself in the path of a player. The fact they left the dugout is enough. They are all done for the game.

Profanity not necessary, F2 was gone the minute he decided to give a speech.

Nobody said they were smart

Is the term AA also used in Canada?

Sounds so much like the Men's Modified I used to call in a Church league! :>)
