2015 ASA Rules & Umpire Manual in PDF

Is the rule book available in PDF format anywhere? Not the ones for apps on tablets.......an actual PDF version somewhere! For sale or whatever.

It never has been.

Oh how I wish it was.

Have a few unsanctioned local leagues that insist on using ASA rules. Hard to use ASA rules without anyone being able to get a current rulebook without bribing someone that is an ASA sanctioned participant! And those are few and far between in this area, there was an attempt to get some ASA sanctioned ball down here a few years ago but nothing ever came of it.

Ditto Little League. Summer ball leagues want to play by Little League rules, yet arent sanctioned so they cant get books.

Could that be why?

That is one of the points of sanctioning the league and where I do agree with ASA. You want the product, you pay the price. Don't want to pay the price, you have no right to complain.

I've been trying to get them to go to USSSA or modified NFHS rules but it's not the brightest bunch to deal with.

I am pretty sure that one can buy the ASA Rules directly from ASA without being affiliated with ASA. And, I am pretty sure that you no longer have to be affiliated with Little League anymore to buy both its Baseball or Softball Rules Book.

I used to offer my excess books to folks who were willing to buy them. Face value and the money went into the state umpire's account. Unfortunately, you need to have a commissioner who is willing to round up your need instead of one who likes to try to cut corners and under order hoping some registered umpires will not ask for their book.

Curious! We have a group of seniors who play softball in a Del Webb Sun City community. There governing rules are ASA. They make a few changes cuz they're old but they play under ASA rules predominantly.

That being the case, the community association I think provides insurance for players using a community facility. So no ASA insurance.

Their umpires, while not taking the test and becoming certified by ASA, follow ASA rules and are trained by fellow ASA umpires.

Are we saying that this group "cannot" or "isn't entitled" to purchase ASA rule books? If so, it's seems pretty bizarre.

ASA had a rules app for Iphone and Android but they are no longer available and the rulebook still cant be purchased without being an umpire through the ASA other than through second hand sources.

Did find the LL rulebooks through their website. The local leagues that use those rules and arent sanctioned through LL do carry their own insurance and they pay their umpires.
